Jim Hinckley - 1st speaker in Hackett Auto Museum Speaker Series
Recently, the Hackett Auto Museum launched the inaugural season of its’ speaker series.
Our first guest speaker was Jackson native, Mr. Jim Hinckley, now a resident of Kingman Arizona. Jim is the former Associate Editor of Cars N’ Parts Magazine, author of multiple books and a national expert on Route 66, America’s Main Street.
Mr. Hinckley spoke at length to more than two dozen people recently in the auditorium of the Jackson Maker Space. The audience was full of collector car hobbyist, local history buffs and people who wanted to learn more about the history of Route 66.
In 2013, Jim launched “Jim Hinckley’s America” which began as a weekly radio show in New Mexico. The show chronicles the grand adventure on Route 66 and the road less traveled. Hinckley returned to his roots in Jackson, Michigan with a presentation on the evolution that gave rise to the iconic Route 66 and the American “Good Roads Movement” in the late 19th century.
The Hackett Auto Museum’s 2018/2019 Speaker Series is an informative public event hosted approximately every five weeks at a public location in Jackson. The next speaker will be on Saturday, December 8th in the auditorium of the Jackson District Library, Carnegie branch, beginning at 11 am.
